Man dies after motorcycle hits tree in Arnett

ARNETT — A Texas man died Thursday night after the motorcycle he was riding struck a tree in Arnett, authorities said.

Phillip Shane Bridges, 27, died at a Shattuck hospital, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday Bridges was driving a motorcycle south on the 200 block block of S Jackson Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree, troopers said. Bridges was thrown from the motorcycle while the motorcycle continued about 730 feet before stopping on the side of the road.
Bridges was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
