Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents are investigating the death of a man who died Friday night in police custody after he was arrested in Ardmore.

Rondre Hornbeak, 38, was arrested after a domestic violence incident Friday night. When he arrived at the jail, he was unresponsive, authorities said. Detention officers started resuscitation efforts until medical personnel arrived, a news release stated.

Hornbeak was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Ardmore’s police chief asked the OSBI to investigate Hornbeak’s death.

OSBI agents are interviewing witnesses, family members and officers. The medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy this week to determine the cause and manner of Hornbeak’s death.
