Man dies in industrial accident in Oklahoma City's Bricktown

A construction worker dismantling the old Interstate 40 was pinned between two pieces of construction equipment and killed Thursday afternoon in Oklahoma City, police said.

A construction worker was killed Thursday afternoon while dismantling the old Interstate 40 Crosstown behind Harkins Theatre in Bricktown, police said.

The worker — whose name was not released — had just helped unload one of the highway I-beams about 3:30 p.m. when he was pinned between a truck trailer and a piece of excavation equipment, Oklahoma City police Capt. Don Martin said.

The man died at the scene, Martin said. No citations were issued or arrests made.

“Everything we have right now is pretty much indicative of an accident,” he said.
