Dean Randall Godfrey, 37, died at the scene.

About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Godfrey was driving a pickup south on U.S. 77, about 1 1/2 miles north of Newkirk, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. His vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer driven by Joseph Ralph Moews, 65, of Adair.

Godfrey, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pinned in his pickup for about 1 hour, 15 minutes, troopers said. Troopers said he was driving under the influence of intoxicants

Moews was taken with internal injuries to a Wichita hospital. Troopers don't know if he was wearing a seat belt.
