Man dies of gunshot wound in Lawton, Oklahoma Monday night

LAWTON -- Police are investigating the eighth homicide of the year, Capt. Craig Akard reports.

Jonathan Eugene Shepherd, 35, was found shot in a front yard at 1303 NW Taylor about 9:15 p.m. Monday, Akard reports. Shepherd died at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.

Police are looking for two Hispanic men who were in a brown Jeep Cherokee with damage to the driver's side. The Jeep hit another vehicle when the driver sped from the shooting scene.

Witnesses have been interviewed by police, Akard reports. The Jeep was impounded. Witnesses said the shooter was in the yard when the man was shot.
