Oklahoma County jurors returned a guilty verdict in the trial of a man accused of shooting a woman to death who sold him prescription drugs.

Ryan Cody Gothard, 29, was found guilty in a three-day trial that ended Wednesday evening.

Defense attorneys argued that Gothard, who also is known as “Whiteboy,” was a friend of 50-year-old Janica Shoals and had visited her on May 18, 2012, but did not kill her. The jury disagreed.

“I'm just glad justice has been served, and that I have an answer for my kids,” daughter Tanika Shoals said.

“They (his family) can visit him, but I can't visit my mother,” she said.

The jury recommended a life sentence with the possibility of parole for Gothard.
