Man held in neighbor's death

McALESTER -- A Pittsburg County man remains in jail in McAlester on $1 million bail after surrendering to authorities and confessing to the shooting death of his neighbor, court officials said Wednesday.

Johnny Wayne Lewis, 59, of McAlester is charged in Pittsburg County District Court with first-degree murder. He is accused of fatally shooting Christopher Klein, 52, on June 15, according to an affidavit signed by John Jones, an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent.

Lewis shot Klein in the chest after the two men were involved in an altercation, the affidavit states.

Klein was reported missing June 19, the affidavit states.
