An Oklahoma City man accused of hitting an 11-month-old child and the child's mother has been jailed, police said.
David Charles Sheehan, 34, was arrested on complaints of a parent engaging in child abuse and domestic abuse in the presence of a child.
Officers responded to a domestic call about 11 p.m. at a home in the 8300 block of Arlington Drive, according to the police report.
A woman there told police Sheehan had been drinking most of the day and was upset about something. The woman said she had her baby with her while she and Sheehan were in bed, and Sheehan became angry that the child was crying.
The woman said Sheehan hit her and accidentally hit the child, according to the report.
The woman told police Sheehan became angrier when the baby cried louder and hit the baby on purpose, so she began fighting with him.
Police saw blood coming from the woman's nose, mouth and lip.
The baby had some discoloration and some minor swelling on his forehead, according to the police report.
The woman told police she did not want Sheehan to go to jail because he is a great guy when he isn't drinking.
A state DHS worker told the woman to take the child to a hospital.
Sheehan was taken to the Oklahoma County jail. His bail had not been set Wednesday afternoon.
