Man ignores burn ban and starts Comanche County fire
A burn ban was ignored in Comanche County Tuesday. A fire started near Elgin as a result.
ELGIN – A man who ignored a burn ban sparked a fire that forced the evacuation of 20 homes Tuesday, authorities report.
Crews were able to contain the blaze that started about 3 p.m. Tuesday between Elgin and Sterling, reports the Lawton television station.

A burn ban remains in effect for 49 counties in Oklahoma Wednesday, Oklahoma Forestry Services reports.
No homes were damaged in the blaze that burned about 360 acres. A firefighter was taken to a hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion and other firefighters were treated at the scene, the Associated Press reports. An Oklahoma national Guard helicopter made six water drops on the fire.
