Crews were able to contain the blaze that started about 3 p.m. Tuesday between Elgin and Sterling, reports the Lawton television station.

A burn ban remains in effect for 49 counties in Oklahoma Wednesday, Oklahoma Forestry Services reports.

No homes were damaged in the blaze that burned about 360 acres. A firefighter was taken to a hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion and other firefighters were treated at the scene, the Associated Press reports. An Oklahoma national Guard helicopter made six water drops on the fire.
