Michael Seockjin Moon, 18, was detained after 9 a.m. near the Edmond Racquet Club, 425 Lilac Drive, police spokeswoman Jennifer Monroe said.
The threats were made just after 8 a.m.
Moon was arrested on a felony assault complaint and was expected to be booked into the Oklahoma County jail later Monday.
About 7:20 a.m., Moon went to Edmond Memorial High School and asked to speak to a former teacher but was turned away because he did not have an appointment, said school spokeswoman Susan Parks-Schlepp. Moon left the building without incident, but school personnel alerted the school's police resource officer because of the man's demeanor, she said.
Edmond's Central Middle School, 500 E Ninth St., was on lockdown while police searched for the suspect.
Memorial High School, Clegern Elementary and Will Rogers Elementary were put on heightened security during the search, Parks-Schlepp said.
