A man was arrested after an Oklahoma City police officer was punched in the face.

Police arrested Mark Carl Lamb, 39, on complaints of assault and battery on a police officer, inhaling a harmful substance and resisting arrest.

Master Sgt. James O. Kennedy responded to a call Tuesday about a man huffing something behind Grandy's, 7704 S Western Ave.

Kennedy found a man sitting on the ground, huffing a can of compressed air into his mouth and making growling sounds, according to the incident report.

Kennedy took the compressed air can from the man and tried to handcuff him, but the man ran away. When Kennedy chased the man and grabbed his jacket, the man punched Kennedy in the face, according to the incident report.

Another officer arrived to assist Kennedy in the arrest. The officer saw Kennedy holding his Taser, out of breath and touching the left side of his face, according to the incident report.

Lamb had been shocked with a Taser and the probes were still in his left leg.

He was taken to Oklahoma County jail after he was medically cleared at a hospital emergency room. He remained in jail Thursday with bail set at $4,000.

Lamb is a registered sex offender, according to the incident report.
