Family members of a man who was killed Sunday afternoon while crossing a Tulsa street identified the man as Eric Rollerson, a well-known figure who once ran for mayor in Tulsa.

Rollerson, 74, was struck by a northbound pickup just before 4 p.m. in the 5400 block of North Lewis Avenue, according to police. The truck then slammed into a utility pole, Officer Leland Ashley said.

Both the 44-year-old male driver and Rollerson were taken by ambulance to hospitals, police said. Rollerson died about 8:15 p.m.
