ARDMORE — An Oklahoma man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the stabbing death of a 16-year-old girl last summer.

Keith Titsworth pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree murder in the death of Madison Nelson.A local newspaper reports that Titsworth admitted stabbing the teenager but said little else at the hearing.

More than 20 family members and friends of Nelson's attended the hearing in Ardmore.

Nelson's mother, Shanna Rue, testified that her daughter loved to dance and enjoyed school. Rue says her daughter, who went by Maddie, was excited to get her driver's license.

Titsworth was spared the death penalty by agreeing to the plea agreement.
