Stacey Adam Jones, 32, was shot in the chest Wednesday by a young girl armed with .40-caliber handgun. Kendra St. Clair shot Jones when he tried to enter a closet she was hiding in.
Jones survived the shooting and has been charged with first-degree burglary, a felony. He remained in custody Monday in Bryan County jail. Bail is set at $250,000.
Last year, Jones was involved in an incident involving a 17-year-old girl described as mentally disabled.
Police said Jones was caught on surveillance cameras Sept. 26, 2011, as he picked up a girl from Durant High School in his mini van.
At the time, police reported that she had the mental capacity of a 10- to 12-year-old.
The girl’s parents would report her missing after she failed to come home from school, but she was reportedly dropped off by Jones the following day at a fire station in Denison, Texas — roughly 20 miles from Durant.
Police reported Jones wasn’t arrested or charged in the teen’s short disappearance because the girl said she willingly went with the much-older man.
