A man was shot during an attempted carjacking Tuesday, Oklahoma City police said.
Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said a man was driving a sport utility vehicle about 12:20 p.m. in the 3300 block of N Phillips Avenue when another man flagged him down. The second man got inside the vehicle and said he was going to take the SUV.
He then fired a gun at the driver, hitting him in the cheek. The victim was able to disarm his attacker and get away by running to a nearby home, where residents called police, Wardlow said.
The victim was taken to OU Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, she said.
Police recovered the vehicle at 3610 Springlake Drive. They were not able to locate the shooter, who is described as a black male in his teens who was wearing all black.
