The death penalty remains a possible punishment for a Washington man accused of killing a man he kidnapped in Oklahoma City in October.

Darrell Lynn Madden will stand trial on kidnapping and first-degree murder charges, an Oklahoma County judge ruled Friday after hearing testimony from seven witnesses in a preliminary hearing.

Madden, 38, told an FBI agent he and Bradley Qualls killed Steven Domer on Oct. 27, then dumped his body in a creek in McClain County, the agent testified.

Madden later killed Qualls to keep him from talking about the crime, prosecutors said.

Madden pleaded guilty in July in Carter County to killing Qualls. He is serving life plus 60 years in prison.

Oklahoma County prosecutors have not decided whether to pursue the death penalty against Madden in Domer's slaying, District Attorney David Prater said.

Madden will be arraigned Oct. 8 on the murder charge, giving prosecutors time to decide whether to seek the death penalty against him.

FBI agent Craig Overby said that in a Nov. 16 interview Madden bragged about killing another man with Qualls, but Prater said police have not been able to identify another victim.
