— A man’s body was found by firefighters who extinguished a blaze in a house and detached garage Wednesday, said Fire Marshal Ken Helms.

About 3:30 p.m., an off-duty firefighter saw smoke coming from the detached garage of the house at 1510 W Randolph St., Helms said. The fire spread from the garage into the house. No one was in the house.

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters found a man’s body in the garage. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The man’s name had not been released Thursday evening. The state medical examiner’s office will make a positive identification, Helms said.
