A man's body was found in rural Sequoyah County after his wife showed up in Arizona and told police her husband had been shot, and she was kidnapped and raped by men claiming to be federal marshals.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said the body of Jack Purselley, 39, was found Wednesday morning. He had been shot multiple times.

“We don't think it was a random killing,” Lockhart said.

The woman told police in Arizona that a man calling himself a U.S. marshal appeared at their home on Monday and said he was there to arrest Jack Purselley. Two other men later showed up with guns and forced her to leave with them, said the wife, whose name was not released by authorities.

Lockhart said he did not know how the wife escaped from the men.

Lockhart said he and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents will travel to Arizona to investigate.

Purselley, who was on disability, had moved to Oklahoma about five weeks ago from Arizona, he said.

No description of the suspects or their vehicle had been8 released Thursday.
