It's no surprise to anyone at Douglass when Marcus Caddell makes a big play. He's been doing it for four years now.

But Glenpool had to be getting tired of seeing the Trojan senior with the ball in his hands Friday night.

Caddell intercepted three passes, had three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown, and returned a kickoff 76 yards for a score as No. 3 Douglass clinched the District 4A-2 championship with a 20-18 win over fourth-ranked Glenpool Friday at Moses F. Miller Stadium.

"Marcus is a ball hawk," said Douglass quarterback Shon Bridges, who threw for 108 yards and two TDs. "He saved us a lot of times with those picks. He's a playmaker. I'm proud of him."

Bridges also connected with Donnell Ward on a 35-yard touchdown pass. With the run game bottled up much of the night, Bridges had to stretch the field by throwing deep a few times and he found success.

"We've just got to make plays in the passing game," coach Willis Alexander said. "People went crazy in the summer talking about 'Douglass is gonna throw the ball.' It's not about us throwing the ball, it's about completing it when we throw.

"I think that was the difference in the ballgame tonight."

The Trojans (7-2, 6-0) had only one first down after halftime and finished the game with 211 total yards. But the defense was able to hold up, despite playing much of the second half in its own territory.
