Former Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart was one of only two rookies named to the USA Basketball Men's Select Team that will train July 28-31 with the Men's National Team in Las Vegas.
Smart and 12 others will work out with and scrimmage against the National Team in its preparation for the FIBA World Cup.
Smart, the No. 6 overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2014 NBA Draft, and Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott, are the only two rookies on the Select roster.
Named to the 2014 USA Basketball Select squad were: Harrison Barnes (Golden State Warriors); Trey Burke (Utah Jazz); Jimmy Butler (Chicago Bulls); Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Tim Hardaway Jr. (New York Knicks); Tobias Harris (Orlando Magic); McDermott (Chicago Bulls); Victor Oladipo (Orlando Magic); Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets); Miles Plumlee (Phoenix Suns); Smart (Boston Celtics); Dion Waiters (Cleveland Cavaliers); and Cody Zeller (Charlotte Hornets).
