Marcus Smart’s heart was torn up until the late April deadline, struggling to decide whether to stay or go, before eventually settling on a return to Oklahoma State rather than a departure to the NBA.
In 2014, apparently, that decision won’t be nearly as difficult.
Smart, who is competing in Las Vegas at the Team USA training camp this week, told Yahoo! Sports that, barring injury, he definitely plans to enter next year’s NBA Draft.
“It’s safe to say that if, by the grace of God I’m healthy and everything, this will be my last year at Oklahoma State,” Smart told Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports. “Nothing will change my mind on that. (Oklahoma State) understands. They didn’t figure I was coming back this year. They were just as surprised as everyone else.”
It’s an expected and understandable move by Smart, who likely would have gone in top-three in last month’s draft and is projected to go early in the lottery next year.
