In the wake of Marcus Smart's latest Twitter activity, the talk has reverted to collegiate athletes and their use of social media.

When it comes to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, among others, Louisville coach Rick Pitino has no place for it in his program.

Pitino has banned his players from tweeting, and if it was up to him, he'd ban all social media use from his players.

The long-time coach told ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike" Wednesday that social media "poisons their minds," in regard to student athletes.

"I think technology is a great thing in many instances, and I think it's poison in others and for people in sports, especially."

Pitino also called what some of his players are doing on social media "a total waste of time."
