ARCOBELLO MAKES OILERS ROSTER

Center Mark Arcobello, an AHL All-Star last season with the Oklahoma City Barons, has made the Edmonton Oilers roster. With centers Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (offseason shoulder surgery) and Sam Gagner (broken jaw) sidelined, Arcobello will have an opportunity to make an impression early in the season.

Scoring four points in five preseason games, Arcobello will open the season on the Oilers' No. 2 or No. 3 line. Last season with the Barons, Arcobello finished third in the AHL with 68 points, including 46 assists.

FEDUN, PITLICK, LANDER SENT TO OKC

After Edmonton's preseason game win Tuesday night over the New York Rangers, the Oilers sent three players to OKC — defenseman Taylor Fedun and forwards Tyler Pitlick and Anton Lander, although Fedun must clear waivers to officially join the Barons.

Fedun had an impressive training camp, logging four assists in three games. Combined with strong overall play, Fedun probably is the top candidate to be recalled if one of Edmonton's seven defensemen is sidelined.

Pitlick had a strong camp but must provide more offense. Pitlick scored only three goals and 10 points in 44 games with the Barons but should have more opportunities on one of OKC's top two lines. Lander scored 20 points, including nine goals, in 47 games last season with the Barons.
