Martin Park Nature Center, 5000 W Memorial Road, has been listed in “The 10 Best of Everything Families: An Ultimate Guide for Travelers” in the new National Geographic travel guide. The guide lists the nature park in its “10 Best” Parks and Playgrounds category for the South-Central region, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee.
“We couldn’t be more pleased,” said Wendel Whisenhunt, Oklahoma City’s parks and recreation director. “Martin Park’s inclusion in the guide is a testament to the park staff, who for over 30 years have shared their passion and joy about wildlife and nature with countless visitors and students.”
Unlike other travel guides which formulate outcomes based on the opinion or experience of the author, “The 10 Best of Everything Families: An Ultimate Guide for Travelers” samples the opinions of people who have experienced first-hand the attractions and destinations listed.
Author Susan H. Magsamen worked with field contributors from throughout the United States to compile research and information for the book. Researchers spoke with hundreds of people in thousands of communities throughout the country who were willing to share their “in-the-know” recommendations on the best, most fun, and must-see places for families.
