Electric shears and wet alpacas do not make a good mix.
Alpaca shearing is a busy time. The following photos give a snapshot of the day.
- Most mornings I drive over the Bob Wood Memorial Bridge, on the Billy B. Walkabout Memorial Highway and through the Zach D. Taylor Jr. Memorial Interchange.
Bob Wood was a Del City resident, city councilman and a founder of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Del City; Billy Walkabout was a full-blood Cherokee and a much decorated Vietnam War veteran; and Zach Taylor served as executive director of the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments for 25 years.
If you see one of these types of signs and wonder who a person is or if you would like to know the process of honoring someone, the Oklahoma State Transportation Department has an excellent document that can be viewed at http://www.okladot.state.ok.us/memorial/pdfs/pln_mhb_2011.pdf
