Ines Irene Maldonado, a spokeswoman for the diocese's Hispanic Apostolate Office, said the Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Edward Slattery.

Maldonado said many families are leaving Tulsa and the Mass will be a way for the diocese to show its support for families that are fearful of what the new law will bring when it goes into effect Thursday.

"We are trying to get Catholics and everyone to get together in prayer to find some strength together,” she said. "The only thing we have to do is pray.”

The Mass will be 7 p.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2434 E Admiral Blvd. in Tulsa.
