Stillwater's own Matt Holliday has been an outspoken critic of players who have used performance-enhancing drugs.

But the St. Louis Cardinals' slugger is willing to forgive a new teammate for past transgressions.

Holliday was consulted by Cardinals' management before the National League Champions signed Jhonny Peralta -- who served a 50-game suspension for PED use with the Detroit Tigers last season. And Holliday endorsed the move.

"I am against PEDs and always will be," Holliday said Monday at the Cardinals' winter fan festival. "But I also am a forgiving person, and he served his suspension. That's the rules of the game. I'm happy to have him as a teammate."
