Mavericks writer: Can OKC and Dallas develop a rivalry?

FROM STAFF REPORTS Published: May 25, 2011

The Dallas Morning News' Dallas Mavericks beat writer Eddie Sefko answered questions from readers in a special chat on today. Read the entire chat recap here.

On a potential Mavericks-Thunder rivalry:

It's going to take more than one 4-1 series to do that. If the Thunder can sneak out a win tonight -- and no, I don't think that's going to happen -- then get it to a Game 7, you might have the makings of rivalry in the future. For now, it's just not the same venom as San Antonio.

On the chances OKC wins three games in a row and wins the series against Dallas

Can't see that happening. They're very good, but at shootaround today, it just looked like there was some resignation on some faces. The key for them is to treat this like a single game in February. Just win once on the road, then see where it takes you. Remember that of the eight teams who have come back in NBA history from a 3-1 deficit, only two of them have done it when they faced two of the last three games on the road.

On what Mavericks fans think of the Thunder:

They think it's a darn good thing the Mavericks are getting their licks in now, because this team is going to be a son of a gun for the next few seasons. Carlson: An open letter to Thunder fans Chat Recap: Eddie Sefko
