Golf weekend unites friends
A group of local golfers organized their in-town and out-of-town friends for a long weekend of golf activities at Gaillardia Country Club. The group also had a billiards competition, enjoyed spa appointments and went to several art events.

Sarah James Dorr was honoree at a baby shower and luncheon in the home of Betsy Thorpe. Co-hostesses were Barbara Beeler, Patty Cohenour, Sue Homsey, Linda Reece, Mary Sue Shelley and Libby Steakley. Dorr and her husband, Dustin, are expecting a boy in August. Among the guests were Marilyn Law, Arlene James, Karen Samis, Mary Kay Samis, Terry Bradley, Janell Flanery, Christy Everest, Susan Hoffman, Shirley Samis, Devon Kim and Candy Ainsworth.

Joie De Vie Dance Club marked the group's 100th anniversary with a centennial ball and dinner at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. A horse-drawn carriage and vintage Packard touring car waited at the entryway, and crystal vases with large white roses and golden balloons decorated the tables. Mike Marshall introduced past presidents and spouses Kristen and Scott Lancaster, Margaret and John Biggs, and Dorothy and Walter Hammert. An orchestra played, and dancers Amanda Van Satin and Hayes Hopkins performed.
May 5, 2006 Let's Dance
Seventy Five Club members danced to the music of "Hart and Soul" when they met for a spring dinner and dance at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club on April 29. About 160 people attended. On the arrangements committee were Phyllis Stough, Ellie Roberts, DeDe Benham, Kim Bruno, SoRelle Fitzgerald and Elaine Levy. Harrison Levy is club president.

The Orbach's reunion at Oak Tree Country Club drew 75 people. All the men had worked for Robert L. Orbach and Orbach's clothing store through the years. "It was more like a family reunion," said Denny Wehba, a party planner. One speaker, Stephen Haggard, was the reunion's organizing chairman. Other speakers and planners were Gordon Shelton and David Veitch of Tulsa; Jon Landis, Wehba, Gene Knippers and Fred Ebrahimi of Oklahoma City. Jan Engdahl was on the arrangements committee.

The first private evening at the 2006 Symphony Designers Show House at 1504 Huntington Ave. was hosted by members of the Tomlinson and O'Connell law firm. Clients were invited, and dinner was catered by Cheever's. About 75 guests toured the show house and then enjoyed dinner together.
