NORMAN — The Assistance League of Norman will sponsor May Fair Art and Sole, its 38th annual May Fair Arts Festival, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 5 at Andrews Park, 201 W Daws St.
It was a three-day event for the past several years, but this year organizers decided to return to the one-day format, Chairman Mitzi LaBrie said.
“The Assistance League wanted to return May Fair to its roots, showcasing local artists and vendors,” LaBrie said. “Local artists have been very supportive of our decision to scale down to a one-day event.”
LaBrie said the festival will feature art vendors from across the United States, and will offer plenty of fun, food, live music and activities along with the art.
New this year is the Art and Sole Run, a 5k run and 2k fun run/walk, an event LaBrie said organizers are excited about.
“We decided to incorporate a run this year to add an element of health and fitness,” LaBrie said.
Also featured will be a Children's Art Yard, with fun crafts for children to make and take, LaBrie said.
“Our Children's Art Yard is going to have some great crafts, including shoelace decorating, flowerpot decorating and fingerprinting,” LaBrie said.
Inside the Children's Art Yard, Lindsey Martin of Norman's Scissortail Art School will lead the free Adventures in Art section from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children can do everything from glass etchings to beaded bracelets, Martin said. For more information, to register for the Art and Sole...
