Maytag recalls refrigerators due to fire risk

Maytag announced Tuesday the voluntary recall of about 1.6 million refrigerators that could pose a fire hazard.

The company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the refrigerators contain an electrical failure in the component that turns on the compressor.

Maytag officials said they got 41 reports of this electrical component igniting.

Recalled Maytag-made brands include Jenn-Air, Amana, Maytag, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag...
