Amy L. Long pleaded guilty last week to two counts of felony child abuse by injury. A third count of child neglect was dismissed in a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Another eight years in prison were suspended in the case, and Long was ordered to pay more than $3,000 in fines and court fees.

McAlester police Capt. Don Hass says the baby is doing well and living with grandparents.

Long was convicted of shaking the infant hard enough to cause broken blood vessels and bleeding on May 26, and on another instance between May 7 and May 29.

What a lie: "Editor's note: It is not our intent to offer comments on crime or fatality stories." Actually, you limit comment on stories where you have a political slant. And you know it.

As much as we know about this there is no excuse for this to happen to a baby. Maybe they should send home information on this with every mother/father who leave the hospital with a new born and where to call if they need help.
