I don't personally know Aubrey McClendon and I doubt he would associate my name and face together. Having said that, much has been said and rumored about McClendon, some bad, mostly good. I'm not a judge but I'm an astute observer and I can categorically state that this man, through his personal and professional leadership, has contributed mightily to this community. I see this with my varied volunteer opportunities: Chesapeake people and/or dollars are always present, and they're present in a passionate, committed way. That type of behavior is genuine and reflective; it's allowed and encouraged from the top of the organization.
I'm not sure what the future holds for either McClendon or Chesapeake, but I know his “commitment to community” will have a lasting impact on this community long after he departs Chesapeake. Aubrey, may your next venture be just as impactful and may it be here in Oklahoma!
