Colt McCoy likens playing quarterback to teenage driving.
"Your freshman year, it's like when you start driving a car, you stop at every stoplight, put your blinker on, you never go above the speed limit,” the
Texas quarterback said. "In the second year, you have your driver's license, it's a little tempting, you pass on the double yellow line, you do some crazy things.”

Big 12 highs, McCoy has advice for
Oklahoma's sophomore quarterback,
Sam Bradford.
"It's super easy in your second year to feel comfortable, to feel you know everything, to feel you don't have to do as much as you did your freshman year,” McCoy said. "But in reality, you have to do that much more. That's what I've learned.”
That's the challenge for Bradford, coming off a brilliant freshman season.
Bradford led the nation in passing efficiency and shattered
McCoy's NCAA freshman record for touchdown passes with 36 while only throwing eight picks.
"After his game against us, I kind of jumped on his bandwagon,” McCoy said, referring to Bradford's three-touchdown performance against the Longhorns. "He was doing the same thing I was doing the year before, playing great.
"Nobody really knows how hard it is to come in as a freshman in front of an offensive line that's played for two years. And be able to call plays in the huddle and them listen and respect you. That's super challenging. He had a great year, and I'm sure he'll have another one this year.”
For Bradford, remaining cautious will be paramount, especially since he'll be surrounded by a veteran offensive line and a host of playmakers to take pressure off him.
Interceptions and sacks plagued McCoy, preventing him from building on his freshman season.
McCoy blames an overinflated sense of comfort and confidence as the cause for making poor and costly decisions throughout last season.
And what he says Bradford needs to avoid to produce a successful sophomore encore.
"Go back to the basics, understand everything, act like you just got your driver's license,” McCoy said. "That's what I've done.”

Jay lighten the f**k up dude. Everyone uses "we" talking about their team. That slight is right down there with being a grammar and spelling cop on the internet. Are you Todd's parole officer? You seem to know an awful lot about him.
but that is not the truth. so under your logic, in order to be a leader, one must lie?
