Oklahoma has been waiting on one more addition before the start of fall classes.
With classes beginning Monday, time was running out for three-star safety Vontre McQuinnie to join the team.
The safety had previously been on the Sooners’ roster but was removed this week. McQuinnie announced later on Twitter that he would go to a junior college.
He recently told The Oklahoman that he was still on track to arrive in Norman after the completion of his summer classes.
McQuinnie’s removal from the roster was first reported by the Tulsa World.
The 6-foot-1, 204-pound McQuinnie transferred from Lancaster, Texas, to DeSoto during his senior season after he’d committed to the Sooners.
McQuinnie is the second player from the Sooners’ 2014 signing class not to make it to Norman.
Offensive lineman Natrell Curtis said in early June that he would enroll at Pima (Ariz.) Community College.
