DAVIS, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia State Police say a Maryland man has died in an equipment-related accident at a Tucker County coal mine.

Sgt. G.L. Stalnaker in Elkins says the accident occurred about 9:10 p.m. Thursday at Mettiki Coal's Mountain View Mine in Davis.

A statement from the state Office of Miners' Health Safety and Training says 20-year-old Daniel Lambka of Kitzmiller, Md., was crushed in the accident. The mine safety office is investigating.

A message left with officials at the longwall mine wasn't immediately returned. The mine's parent company is Tulsa, Okla.-based Alliance Resource Partners.
