Even if the game were 24 years ago, Husker fans apparently haven't forgotten the controversial call in Penn State's 27-24 victory over Nebraska on Sept. 25, 1982, at College Station, Pa.
Penn State, quarterbacked by Blackledge, went on to win the national championship that year. Nebraska finished 12-1.
Trailing 24-21 in the final minute, Blackledge drove the Nittany Lions downfield. The key play was his pass to Mike McCloskey on the left sideline at the 2-yard line with 9 seconds left. According to reports, McCloskey's front foot was clearly out of bounds, but he was dragging his back foot. The line judge ruled him in, much to the chagrin of Nebraska fans. On the next play, Blackledge's pass to Kirk Bowman in the end zone gave Penn State the victory.
