Media notebook: HBO to feature Jets training camp

The New York Jets and charismatic coach Rex Ryan will be featured in HBO’s "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets” in August. The sixth season of the five-episode series will debut at 9 p.m. Aug. 11.

NFL Network is replaying all five episodes of last season’s series with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, beginning at 7 p.m.

TV Sports Emmys nominations
ESPN (29 nominations) and ESPN2 (17) lead the pack in nominations for Sports Emmy awards. HBO had 21 nominations, followed by NBC 15, Fox 13, TNT 12, CBS 11, MLB Network 11, ABC seven, NFL Network five, Showtime four and Fox Sports Net three. FX, TBS and Versus each had two.

Nominated as best play-by-play announcers were Mike Breen, ABC; Joe Buck, Fox; Mike Emrick, NBC; Al Michaels, NBC; Jim Nantz, CBS, and Mike Tirico, ESPN.

Game analyst nominations went to Cris Collinsworth, NBC; Jon Gruden, ESPN; Jim Kaat, MLB; Tim McCarver, Fox; Phil Simms, CBS, and Jeff Van Gundy, ABC.

→Traffic statistics for the first four days of NCAA March Madness on Demand (mmod.ncaa.com) were up 35 percent over last year with 8.7 million hours of live streaming video and audio and 6 million unique visitors.

→Connecticut women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma is profiled on ESPN’s "Outside the Lines,” at 8 a.m. Sunday.

→USA will air two Kentucky Derby prep races — the Louisiana Derby in New Orleans and the Lane’s End Stakes in Florence, Ky. — at 4 p.m. Saturday.

→Former Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti has joined ESPN as a game analyst. He will make his debut at 1 p.m. April 17 on ESPNU’s telecast of the Auburn spring football game.
