Media notebook: TBS to televise both MLB wild-card games Friday

Format resembles NCAA basketball tournament for one day — one loss and you go home.

— ESPN Films' 30 for 30 will premiere “9.79*” at 7 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN. The film examines the showdown between Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis in the men's 100-meter final at the 1988 Olympic Games and the steroids scandal that followed.

— The Tulsa football team will make a national appearance at 7 p.m. Thursday when it hosts UTEP on FSN. Mike Morgan, JC Pearson and Laura McKeeman, who also called the OU-UTEP game, are the broadcasters.

— ESPN Radio's Ryen Russillo has agreed to a multiyear contract extension, prompting a change to the name of the network's afternoon show from “The Scott Van Pelt Show,” to “SVP & Russillo,” noon-3 p.m. weekdays, simulcast noon-2 p.m. ESPNEWS.
