Media notebook: WWLS-AM 640 switches to ESPN Radio full time

The station will continue to carry OKC Thunder broadcasts.

Cumulus Media switched WWLS-AM 640 to ESPN Radio full-time Thursday, allowing sports fans another venue for national sports talk. The station will continue to carry Oklahoma City Thunder broadcasts and OU and OSU pregame and postgame shows.

The move brings Doug Gottlieb, an occasional contributor to the Sports Animal radio network, back into the area on a regular basis. The show from Gottlieb, a former OSU guard, airs weekdays from 3-6 p.m.

The rest of the ESPN Radio weekday lineup includes “Mike & Mike in the Morning,” 5-9 a.m.; “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” 9 a.m.-noon; “The Scott Van Pelt Show,” noon-3 p.m.; “Hill & Schlereth,” 6-9 p.m.; “SportsCenter Tonight,” 9 p.m.-1 a.m.; “SportsCenter All Night,” 1-5 a.m.

“Sports Animal” programming will continue to air on WWLS-FM 98.1 and its network affiliates: Tulsa's KYAL-FM 97.1 and AM-1550. Muskogee's KBIX AM-1490, Pawhuska's KPGM-AM 1500, Woodward's KSIW AM-1450 and Elk City's KADS-AM 1240.

ABC to air Bulls-Thunder

The Thunder will make its ABC debut this season, hosting the Chicago Bulls at noon Sunday. Mike Tirico and analyst Hubie Brown will call the game with Ric Bucher reporting. In the second game of the doubleheader, Boston hosts Miami at 2:30 p.m. (Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Lisa Salters).

ESPN has a doubleheader Friday night with Dallas at Orlando at 7 p.m. (Breen and Chris Mullin) and Portland at L.A. Clippers at 9:30 p.m. (Dave Pasch, Jon Barry and Bucher).
