The Oklahoma City Thunder will debut a magazine show, "Air Thunder,” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, on KSBI-52 (Cox 9) and Fox Sports Oklahoma (Cox 37).
The weekly show, hosted by sideline reporter Brent Weber, plans to go beyond the court and provide fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the NBA franchise.
"This show will help the fans get to know our players and our organization,” said Ken Adelson, Thunder senior vice president and executive producer. "We’re tying the organization to the community, and we have many stories to tell.”
The show also will air on Fox Sports Oklahoma before the Thunder Live pre-game show on Tuesday or Wednesday night, whichever day has a telecast.
Women’s hoops showdown
Top-ranked women’s basketball team Connecticut (3-0) will host No. 4 Oklahoma (3-1) at 7:15 p.m. Sunday on ESPN. Pam Ward and Carolyn Peck will broadcast the game.
Kara Lawson, a former Tennessee standout, will provide studio analysis with host Kevin Negandhi.
Rohde to sign book
John Rohde, a columnist for The Oklahoman, will sign his new book, "Bill Self: At Home in the Phog,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes & Noble, 6100 N May. A Kansas national championship basketball, autographed by Self, will be given away.
In the biography, Rohde shares Self’s perspective on achieving his dream of becoming a head coach. His career has included coaching stints at Tulsa, Oral Roberts, Illinois and Kansas.
KOMI, a Woodward low-power TV station, is airing two high school semifinal games from Woodward, the first live playoff games under the OSSAA’s new television contract. KOMI will air Laverne vs. Ringwood at 7:30 tonight in Class B and Shattuck vs. Timberlake at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Class C.
Steve Berrey, owner of Youth Sports Marketing, which jointly owns the TV rights with Fox Sports Oklahoma, said several playoff games have aired on tape delay.
→Versus (Cox 251) will debut the fourth season of "The Contender” at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Tony Danza will host the series, which includes 11 one-hour episodes and a live two-hour finale. Shot on location in Singapore, this installment features 16 cruiserweights.
→In anticipation of Sunday night’s Bears-Vikings battle for first place in the NFC North, NFL Network will rebroadcast Adrian Peterson’s team record-setting performance last year against the Bears at 8 tonight. Peterson rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings’ 34-31 victory at Soldier Field.
→Stephen Ames goes for his third consecutive victory in the LG Skins game at Indian Wells Golf Cour, noon-2:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday. Phil Mickelson, Rocco Mediate and K.J. Choi also are competing.
