Oklahoma City Thunder stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook have been nominated for the 2014 ESPY awards. Durant was selected in two categories, best male athlete and best NBA player. Westbrook was nominated for best comeback athlete.
Also nominated for best male athlete were Detroit Tigers infielder Miguel Cabrera, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and boxer Floyd Mayweather.
Also nominated for best NBA player were former OCS and OU star Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clipppers, LeBron James of the Miami Heat and Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls.
Westbrook’s competition for best comeback athlete are Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett, Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and New York Rangers center Dominic Moore.
Voting is underway, and all categories will close when the live show starts at 8 p.m. July 16 on ESPN. Grammy Award-winner Drake is hosting the show from Los Angeles.
“Pardon the Interruption” co-stars Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon will host “The ESPY Nomination Special” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on ESPN.
