Medical tests could help take load off Oklahoma City gorilla’s back

Bom Bom has a backache.

Oklahoma City Zoo officials aren’t sure why. Diagnosing the ailments of a 360-pound silverback gorilla is a lot like diagnosing a person, said Dr. Jennifer D’Agostino, the zoo’s veterinary services director.

Zookeepers first noticed Bom Bom was having trouble when he wasn’t eating or moving like normal, D’Agostino said. He crouched as he walked. He lost more than 30 pounds.
