Meet the new sports web editor for NewsOK

In April, I posted about Anthony Slater. At the time, he was the newest addition to the team that keeps NewsOK.com growing in all areas — site traffic, social media, blogging, etc.

We were excited about all the blogging and engagement Anthony would bring to NewsOK Sports.

But Anthony is already gone — kind of. He moved on to become one of the Oklahoma City Thunder beat writers, alongside Darnell Mayberry.

So, it was perfect timing. The Thunder season has begun, and Anthony and Darnell are moving fast into new ways to bring the latest news and analysis about the Thunder. Talk about a duo that is constantly plugged into every aspect of the NBA … just follow the Thunder Rumblings blog — you’ll see.

Anthony will still be a very prominent face on NewsOK. But his move gives us an opportunity to bring in another web specialist to serve as your NewsOK Sports ambassador.

Erik Horne joined the team recently. He’s already mastered the live game coverage on college football Saturdays. And he’s reached the top of the list of bloggers (see this week’s post about the OU football uniforms). And he’s found new ways to present a wide variety of content on our NewsOK sports channels (it’s always changing).

Erik comes to us after spending five years at The Ardmoreite as sports editor.

And I’ll repeat what I wrote in April about what you can expect from our sports web editor/producer.

Get used to Erik. He’ll be all over our site in the months to come.

But maybe this time I should change ‘months’ to ‘years.’
