Emmy-winning actress/singer Megan Mullally, who grew up in Oklahoma City, will appear on two CBS talk shows today.
First, Mullally will appear on “The Talk,” which airs from 1 to 2 p.m. weekdays on CBS. Other guests on the show will be musician and actor Meat Loaf, “Top Talker” Kevin Frazier (“The Insider”) and chef Marcela Valladolid.
Later – much, much later – Mullally will appear on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” which airs at 11:35 p.m. weekdays on CBS. J. Maarten Troost also will appear on tonight’s show.
As previously reported, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma announced recently that Mullally will return to Lyric’s stage for the first time since 2004 in “Megan Mullally and Stephanie Hunt Are Nancy and Beth.” The actresses will perform their bawdy and edgy comedic rock show Feb. 19-20 only at the Plaza Theatre.
“We are ecstatic to have Megan, who is one of our favorite Lyric alumni, at the Plaza Theatre with such a hip show,” said Michael Baron, Lyric’s artistic director, in a news release. “She and Stephanie are absolutely hilarious together as they sing their original songs and put their own spin on rock classics. See it before they get run out of town!”
Mullally and Hunt first met while filming the independent movie “Somebody Up There Likes Me,” where they created their alter-ego singing duo, Nancy and Beth, performing original, comedic songs. Within just three months of the act’s inception, Nancy and Beth performed on Conan O’Brien’s talk show “Conan” as the musical guest.
Mullally is best-known for her work as Karen Walker on the long-running TV show “Will and Grace”; Hunt has been featured on well-known TV shows such as “Friday Night Lights” and “Californication.”
“Megan Mullally and Stephanie Hunt Are Nancy and Beth” is an R-rated show with explicit language and adult humor. For more information, go to www.lyrictheatreokc.com.
