Bazaar, How Bizarre

DEAR READERS: When I read the following letter, and noticed all the notices about bazaars, I thought, “How bizarre!”

DEAR MELBA: I have no idea where this, “You think English is easy?” story originated but thought it neat enough to share. Hopefully, other readers will come up with other “wordings.”

1. The bandage was wound around the wound.

2. The farm was used to produce produce.

3. The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4. We must polish the Polish furniture.

5. He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

8. When I shot at it, the dove dove into the bushes.

9. I'm a big fan of fall but threw my fan away because it is fall.

DEAR MELBA: I'm a member of the Quail Springs United Methodist Craft Fair committee. We're trying to promote this year's annual event and need your help. The event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Quail Springs United Methodist Church, 14617 N Pennsylvania. We will have more than 40 vendors there, with a great variety of crafts, and all proceeds will go to charity.

SUSAN WIND, Oklahoma City

DEAR MELBA: Please tell your readers that the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1401 NW 25, will be hosting its Fourth Annual Ruth Haddon Memorial Arts Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, in the church fellowship hall. The festival will feature Oklahoma artists and will include paintings, prints, photography, American Indian art, pottery, jewelry and more. And there will be no admission charge. We hope to see everyone there.
