INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO CHURCH
DEAR MELBA: If any of your readers are interested in some free medical help, invite them to come to New Hope United Methodist Church, 11600 N Council, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 18. This is the time for the Strong & Healthy Oklahoma Free Health Fair, and when we say “free,” we mean free. There will be no charge for attendance, no charge for any treatments received, and reservations are not needed.
More than 40 health groups will be participating by providing nutritional, health, aging, fitness and wellness advice plus services for the blind and physically handicapped.
Screenings will be offered for glaucoma, visual acuity, cholesterol, high blood pressure, basic lung functioning, bone density, chiropractic and hearing with physicians available to review test results.
A representative from the Oklahoma Blood Institute will be there to accept blood donations, and registered pharmacists will be available to review your prescriptions.
There will even be free immunizations and fingerprinting will be offered for children.
We hope to see you there whether you've ever been sick or not. We're trying to help you stay well.

DEAR MELBA: I consider August "pickling month." I fondly remember the Bread and Butter Pickles my mother made, so I recently made two quarts. But, my real pickle activity is making Sweet Dill Pickles.
SWEET DILL PICKLES
1 quart jar sliced dill pickles
1 1/4 cups sugar
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon dried minced onions
1 tablespoon celery seed
Drain pickles. Leaving pickles in the jar, add sugar, vinegar, onions and celery seed. Replace lid and shake until well coated. Refrigerate for least a week, shaking occasionally.

DEAR MELBA: I have lost the recipe for Pudding Cake. It's a delicious chocolate cake made with a chocolate cake mix. Before baking it, you mix milk, water, cocoa, sugar, etc., and pour over the top of the prepared mix in the pan. Please ask if anyone has this recipe.
