Will Mystery Fruit Cake resolve the quest?
DEAR MELBA: I wondered if this might be the recipe for Mystery Fruitcake one of your readers requested. I got three 1-pound loaves. They're in the freezer until I decide who gets them.
MYSTERY FRUIT CAKE
1 box honey spice (or white) cake mix
4 cups candied mixed fruit
1/2 cup whole red cherries
1/2 cup whole green cherries
1 1/2 cups seedless raisins
1 cup dates, cut up
4 1/4 cups pecans
Prepared whipped vanilla frosting
Make cake as directed on box. Cool and crumble into large mixing bowl. In medium mixing bowl, combine mixed fruit, cherries, raisins, dates, pecans and frosting. Add to crumbled cake and mix well.
Pack tightly into foil-lined pan or bowl. Store in cool place in refrigerator or freeze.

DEAR MELBA: I wanted to share something I saw in my new cookbook. It suggested baking dressing in muffin tins instead of baking dishes or stuffing the bird. I do turkey breasts so this sounds like a good idea.
