Memorial Day weekend rains improve drought picture

The rain that passed through the state over Memorial Day weekend improved the drought picture in Oklahoma, according to a U.S. Drought Monitor report released Thursday morning. But despite those rains, western and northern Oklahoma are still in bad shape:

Although the situation has improved since last week, more than a quarter of the state is still in exceptional drought, the report’s most severe category. Nearly 80 percent of the state is experiencing some form of drought.
