The Neighborhood Alliance of Central Oklahoma recognized outstanding groups and individuals at the 2008 Good Neighbor Awards Banquet.

Jerry Cable was named Good Neighbor of the Year, and Arrow Wrecker was named Corporate Neighbor of the Year. Oklahoma City Councilman Sam Bowman won the Neighborhood Alliance Board of Directors Honor award.

The Riverpark Neighborhood Association’s youth soccer program was honored as the Best Neighborhood Project. Helm Farm was given the Best Neighborhood Newsletter award. Camelot, Cleveland, College Hill and Medical Community were all named Neighborhoods of the Year.

A special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the Heritage Hills Neighborhood Association.

Professional

The Association of Fundraising Professionals awards is Nov. 14.

Tom Ward of SandRidge Energy is Outstanding Philanthropist, and Larry and Polly Nichols are Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers. Nina Daylor of United Way of Central Oklahoma will be named Mike McDonald Outstanding Fundraising Professional. The Oklahoma City Philharmonic is the Outstanding Fundraising Organization, and Putnam City Schools is honored as Outstanding Youth Making a Difference. The Outstanding Philanthropic Service Organization is Telecom Pioneers, Southwest Chapter #136, Thunderbird Club. The Education and Employment Ministry will be given the Outstanding Achievement in Diversity award. The Kirkpatrick Foundation is Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation.
